CHARLES HENRY OWSLEY

CHARLES HENRY OWSLEY was born in Blaston Hall, Leicestershire, England on 15 December 1846, the son of William Poyntz Mason Owsley (1812-1868) and brother of John Cuming owsley (1851-1926) and Stephen Poyntz Owsley (1857-1933). He died 25 August 1935 in Youngstown, Mahoning County, Ohio. He was educated at Allesly Park College, Coventry, England during 1858-1862, and served his apprenticeship as an architect in Abergavenny, Monmouthshire, Wales in 1864-1868. In 1868, he immigrated to Canada and in 1869 to Weathersfield Township, Trumbull County, Ohio where he bought a farm. He began practicing architecture in Youngstown in 1878 and in 1885 formed a partnership with Louis Boucherle in the firm Owsley & Boucherle, in which association he remained until his retirement in 1911. He was married in 1868, in Abergavenny, Wales to Mary Jane Williams, daughter of George Williams. (See The National Cyclopaedia of American Biography, 39: 571-572.) Mary was born 1846 in England and died before 1910.

4. Charles Frederick Owsley, born 10 Jan 1880 in Mineral Ridge, Trumbull Co., OH; died 17 Mar 1953 in Youngstown, Mahoning Co., OH. Married to Katherine Isabella McKelvey. She was born 23 May 1882 in Ohio and died 15 Apr 1966 in Youngstown, Mahoning Co.
